McDonalds. American obsession or Universal Obsession?

While I was getting a phone card, I saw this change can for some sort of charity in Pakistan. My parents are from there and I visit every year. So this caught my attention. It forced me to think about Spain's overall prosperity relative to the rest of the world. After seeing the protest and hearing about the level of unemployment, I made the assumption that I wouldn't see any form of encouragement to help other countries. I just wasn't expecting it.

San Joan: Cuitadella, Menorca

 

Menorca celebrates San Joan with a festivity which has been practiced since the 13th century. Horses are roaming the streets and competing in games with riders representing the different strata of medeival society: Nobility, Clergy, Artisans, etc. In the picture, crowds surround the horses as they parade around the city of Cuitadella. Everybody attempts to get close to touch the horses and look into a mirror placed on the horses head that is supposed to grant a wish to the viewer.  Here you can see pictures of San Joan Festivities around the world.
